NLC-RISC is excited to offer our newest networking group: Young Pooling Professionals (YPP)! NLC-RISC and member pools are dedicated to identifying, educating, and networking with the next generation of pooling leaders, so we are thrilled to convene this group within our membership.   

For many young staff members in pooling organizations, this might be only their first or second job out of college. Some may be learning the insurance industry for the first time. For others, pooling may be a career change or shift away from the commercial insurance industry. Combine these factors with a virtual work environment for many, and numerous young professionals are missing out on organic networking opportunities that were available to their peers prior to the pandemic.   

Led by Erin Peterson and Lena Scarpulla of the RISC Team along with an advisory group of younger pooling professionals, the formation of this group seeks to achieve the following goals: 

  1. Identify up-and-coming leaders within the pooling community.  
  2. Educate this network of young professionals via leadership programming offered by peers in the pooling industry.  
  3. Provide networking opportunities for the group via online communities, in-person events at regional meetings and conferences, and special events throughout the year.  

The ideal participant in this group will be 40 & under with less than 5 years of experience in the pooling industry. However, participants will self-select into the group (i.e. we won’t turn someone away who is in their 40s and brand new to pooling.) We are accepting participants from ALL risk pool departments, including but not limited to underwriting, claims, loss control/risk management, marketing, administration/operations, legal, finance, and human resources.
