Midwest Region

Illinois

State Municipal League: Illinois Municipal League
The Illinois Municipal League is the formal voice for Illinois municipalities. The League was founded in 1913 and has worked continuously for the benefit of municipalities, promoting competence and integrity in administration of municipal government. 

Indiana

State Municipal League: Accelerate Indiana Municipalities
Aim is the official voice of municipal government in Indiana, with more than 460 cities and towns as members. In recent years they have reimagined their role in helping to shape the dynamic municipalities of the future – and in making government work better for the benefit of all Hoosiers.

Risk Pool: AIM Medical Trust
The Aim Medical Trust provides cities and towns across Indiana with a fiscally responsible approach to healthcare. We pool the insurance of 4,200 employees and counting to give our member communities long-term stability on their rates.

Iowa

State Municipal League: Iowa League of Cities
The Iowa League of Cities serves as the unified voice of cities, providing advocacy, training and guidance to strengthen Iowa’s communities. More than 850 of the cities in Iowa, both large and small, are members.

Risk Pool: Iowa Municipalities Workers’ Compensation Association
The goal of IMWCA is to help members keep employees safe through education and risk management. IMWCA is a risk-sharing pool committed to partnering with cities, counties and local government entities to provide a high-quality workers’ compensation program.

Kansas

State Municipal League: The League of Kansas Municipalities
The League of Kansas Municipalities is a membership association that advocates on behalf of cities, offers training and guidance to city appointed and elected officials, and has a clear purpose of strengthening Kansas communities. Since 1910, the League has been a resource for cities across Kansas and has acted as a body to share ideas, facilitate communication between members, and provide information on best practices in city operations.

Michigan

State Municipal League: Michigan Municipal League
The Michigan Municipal League is dedicated to making Michigan’s communities better by thoughtfully innovating programs, energetically connecting ideas and people, actively serving members with resources and services, and passionately inspiring positive change for Michigan’s greatest centers of potential: its communities.

Risk Pool: MML Liability & Property Pool
The Liability & Property Pool is a non-profit self-insurance pool owned and governed by its members. The Pool provides comprehensive property, general liability, auto liability, public officials’ liability insurance, and related services to over 400 Michigan cities, villages, townships, and other public entities.

Minnesota

State Municipal League: League of Minnesota Cities
The League of Minnesota Cities is a membership association dedicated to promoting excellence in local government. The League, governed by a Board of Directors consisting of local elected and appointed city officials, serves its more than 800 member cities through advocacy, education and training, policy development, risk management, and other services.

Risk Pool: League of Minnesota Cities Insurance Trust
The LMCIT is a self-insured membership cooperative. It was created by Minnesota cities for Minnesota cities, and exists solely to serve its members. The Trust’s fundamental purpose is to cover city risks and to mitigate hazards, not show a profit for stakeholders.

Missouri

State Municipal League: Missouri Municipal League
The Missouri Municipal League was organized in 1934. Since its organization, its aim has been “to develop an agency for the cooperation of Missouri cities, towns and villages and to promote the interest, welfare and closer relations among them in order to improve municipal government and administration in the state.” Thus, the League’s basic goal is to strengthen cities through unity and cooperation.

Nebraska

State Municipal League: League of Nebraska Municipalities
The League of Nebraska Municipalities is a nonprofit service association formed in 1909 to serve as a voice for Nebraska municipalities at the Nebraska Legislature.

Risk Pool: League Association of Risk Management
LARM provides coverage and risk management services to cities, villages and other governmental agencies in Nebraska. LARM’s goal is to be a long-term, stable, cost-effective risk management alternative for Nebraska governmental entities.

North Dakota

State Municipal League: North Dakota League of Cities
The NDLC has served as a key resource for cities and park districts since the early 1900s. Today, the League continues to encourage dynamic local leadership by providing educational opportunities and myriad services to city officials, by connecting resources with needs, and by representing the interests of municipalities in state and federal public policy discussions.

Ohio

State Municipal League: Ohio Municipal League
The Ohio Municipal League was established in 1912 and — after being disbanded for a number of years — was incorporated as an Ohio non-profit corporation in 1952 by city and village officials who saw the need for a statewide association to serve the interests of Ohio municipal government.

Risk Pool: Public Entities Pool of Ohio
PEP is a local government risk-sharing pool that provides first-class property and liability coverages to political subdivisions in the State of Ohio and is endorsed by the Ohio Municipal League, The Association of Ohio Health Commissioners, Ohio Parks & Recreation Association and the Coalition of Ohio Regional Districts.

South Dakota

State Municipal League: South Dakota Municipal League
The South Dakota Municipal League (SDML) was organized in 1934 as a nonpartisan, nonprofit association of incorporated municipalities in South Dakota. The League’s mission is the cooperative improvement of municipal government in South Dakota.

Workers’ Compensation Risk Pool: SDML Workers’ Compensation Fund
The SDML Workers’ Compensation Fund is a self-funded mechanism created for its members and is overseen by its members to provide statutory workers’ compensation coverage for public entities. The Fund has a strong commitment to providing a competitive workers’ compensation program for the public entities in South Dakota through administrative, loss control, and technical services.

Liability & Property Risk Pool: South Dakota Public Assurance Alliance
The South Dakota Public Assurance Alliance (SDPAA) was formed by the South Dakota Municipal League to be a stable, reliable partner for public entities. SDPAA began providing insurance coverage in 1987 and has been committed to the mission of providing exceptional coverage and service to their Members ever since.

Wisconsin

State Municipal League: League of Wisconsin Municipalities
The League of Wisconsin Municipalities was created on December 14th, 1898 to help Wisconsin cities and villages share ideas and learn from one another, to train and provide information to the people elected and appointed to govern those cities and villages, and to advocate on their behalf with the Wisconsin Legislature, Governor and state agencies.

Risk Pool: League of Wisconsin Municipalities Mutual Insurance
Created in 1984 the League of Wisconsin Municipalities Insurance Trust and now LWMMI since 2002 cover 400 Cities, Villages and Special Municipal Districts. LWMMI modifies coverage or develops new programs to meet those needs; such as cyber liability, coverage for drones, HIPPA and no-fault sewer backup coverage.
